Just for Fun

We’re so excited about the upcoming Guide to Bread: Unlocking the Mysteries of Grains, Gluten and Yeast that we decided to give away another pre-order!

From the back of the book: Research reveals that bread provided between 53% and 75% of the daily intake for ancient civilizations. It nourished and literally sustained many generations. Yet bread is now considered to be unhealthy and is even harmful for many. Ever wonder what happened?

Explore the truth about one of our oldest and most loved dietary staples in the Guide to Bread. In this eye-opening book, Jessie Hawkins explains how scientists have produced wheat bread using ancient methods that is gluten free and safe for celiac patients, how specific additives and alterations have been directly linked with the rise in gluten intolerance, and why the real solution to bread isn’t found in freshly milled wheat or soaking grains. You’ll also learn how real bread can help alleviate what the World Health Organization calls the most common nutrient deficiency, why most store bought gluten free foods are unhealthy, and how you can produce your own healthy, real bread – effortlessly – in your own home! / 288pgs / March 20,2012

feeling like a giveaway…

Well it’s Wednesday and for over a week we’ve had storms, rain and more storms.  The sun is finally peeking out behind the clouds, but catching up after a whirlwind week is always kind of blah.

So…. I’m thinking a giveaway would be a great way to spread a little cheer. The Vintage Remedies for Kids book has been a HUGE hit. Want your own copy? Enter our contest! It’s simple… leave a comment below. Standard rules… post on facebook, twitter or your blog and you get to leave more comments (1 for each place you share us) Tomorrow night, we’ll select a winner from the comments. Or two… let’s do two winners just for fun. So two people will win a copy of our latest hit.

And stay tuned for the next installment in the antibiotic resistance series! I’m prepping to leave tomorrow for Atlanta with Caroline where I’ll speak at a conference and she’ll share our resources with families throughout the state. When I can spare 5 minutes, I’ll get the next installment posted – it has some great details you’ll want to know about!

Our fine print: Two winners will be randomly chosen from the comments left below using random.org. One comment per person. To use your additional comments earned by sharing us online, leave a separate comment for each “share” so that you will receive an entry. Duplicate comments or those that don’t have a “share” mentioned will be deleted. Giveaway will end at 5pm CST on Thursday, May 5. Winner will be posted shortly thereafter and notified via email. Book will ship USPS media mail. Value is $25 per book.

UPDATE: This giveaway is now over. Congrats to Elsa (#10) and Kristy (#26) for winning a copy of Vintage Remedies for Kids! Thanks for playing everyone!

For the big finale!

To celebrate the launch of our new Essentials program, we’re giving away Vintage Remedies gift certificates to help you get started! We’ll have 4 tiers of winners; the grand prize is a $125 gift certificate. Next comes a $75 gift certificate, a $50 gift certificate and 5 runner ups will win a free copy of The Kitchen Herbal. If you’re one of the winners and we’re still registering the first 25 educators, you can combine that discount with the gift certificate! (See the note below about using the gift certificate post registration.)

Here’s how to enter: Leave a comment below. You can earn additional comments by liking our new Vintage Remedies Essentials facebook page, following our new @VREssentials account on twitter, signing up for the new Essentials newsletter and sharing the news with your friends via facebook, twitter or your blog. So, you can earn up to 7 entries on your own, and you can have friends enter for you as well – just like last time. Here’s the only catch: Make sure you like / follow / join / promote the NEW ESSENTIALS pages! We’ll be posting and sharing special wellness tips on these pages, just like we do with the regular Vintage Remedies School pages.

Also – an important reminder – you MUST post a separate comment for each action you take to receive the entry. We’ll draw the winners from the comment numbers, so each individual comment is another chance to win.

You have until midnight tomorrow (Wed) to enter. We’ll draw the winners Thursday morning. If you want to sign up for the educator program to be in the first 25 that save $100 but are also entering the contest, please note: we can apply any gift certificates from this contest to a registration that takes place today or tomorrow; if you win, you’ll be refunded the gift certificate amount Thursday at your request. (Or, you can save it for later use towards class supplies or Vintage Remedies products; your choice!) We’ve already signed up several educators, so don’t delay!

UPDATE: The contest is now closed. Congrats to #53 Stacia Miller, our grand prize winner, #6 Dawn Williamson our $75 gift certificate winner and #134 our $50 gift certificate winner! Also, congrats to #s 118, 16, 56, 9 and 131 for their copies of The Kitchen Herbal!
